RE9 is real: The next Resident Evil just got a surprise SGF reveal, and it's launching in February

Today at Summer Game Fest, Capcom brought a surprise gift for everyone: An announcement of a new Resident Evil, featuring a hell of a lot of unsettling hallways and what seems like the aftermath of a nuclear strike. You know, normal Resident Evil stuff. Resident Evil Requiem looks fascinatingly confusing and as upsetting as you'd want it to be, but the reveal isn't all good news: Breaking the hearts of roughly half the internet, there's no giant vampire lady anywhere in the reveal trailer.

Ah, well. They can't all be Resident Evil Village.

You can get a unique 007: First Light reward if you kill Mads Mikkelsen's Casino Royale character in Hitman in the next 30 days

The 007: First Light trailer that dropped during the State of Play earlier this week had some serious Casino Royale energy thanks to its decision to opt for a Bond origin story, and developer IO Interactive is really doubling down on that with a new Hitman collab.

IO's CEO, Hakan Abrak, took to the stage at Summer Game Fest earlier today, joined by acting legend Mads Mikkelsen. That's because, in celebration of the reception of First Light, IO is collaborating with itself, bringing the Danish actor's Casino Royale character, Le Chiffre, to Hitman as an elusive target.

If it's been a while since you last took on one of those targets, they're characters who you've only got one chance to take out, and can only access for a limited time. That's true of Le Chiffre, who'll head to Hitman 1's Paris map, but will only be available for 30 days.

Voiced by Mikkelsen, it's a very good likeness, and it does seem like there's a decent amount of new dialogue in there too. What's even better, however, is that if you do manage to take him out - something that sounds tricky, given Mikkelsen's suggestion that his character will stay one step ahead of the player - you'll get "a unique reward" that you'll be able to take with you in 007: First Light.

I've got no idea what that might be, and with the James Bond game not releasing until next year, it'll be some time before we find out, but if you ever wanted a reason to jump into one of the best stealth games of recent years, this is it.

Keep all the way up to date with our Summer Game Fest schedule.

ARC Raiders Releases on October 30th

Embark Studios’ ARC Raiders received a sleek new trailer at the Summer Game Fest, and despite leaks thus far, it’s actually not shadow-dropping today. Instead, it will launch on October 30th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Check it out below.

Announced at The Game Awards in 2021, ARC Raiders takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, where machines called the Arc have wiped out most of humanity. As a raider, it’s your job to venture to the surface and gather materials, fighting to survive against any hostile Arc.

Of course, other players controlling their own raiders are also foraging, and you can either work with or betray them for resources. The gameplay loop is that of an extraction shooter. You can exit the arena at any time or stay for better rewards, though staying put means potentially losing your loot if you go down.

ARC Raiders recently had a technical test that was well received. Stay tuned for more details on other potential tests in the coming months.

It's a real game—Lies of P: Overture, the Sekiro-like's first major DLC, shadowdrops during Summer Game Fest and is available now

Lies of P, an excellent little Sekiro-like, just got its first major DLC. No, really—Overture is available to purchase now, as announced during Summer Game Fest 2025's lineup of trailers and previews.

Round 8 and Neowiz's next expansion takes players to "the city of Krat in its final days of haunting", as per its Steam page. Overture is a prequel to the main game, following Mr. P himself as he takes his twinkish, automaton frame through a setting overdue for a puppet massacre or two.

The DLC contains a far more lively Krat—which already has me sold, being honest. While a good ruin is sort of the point of a soulslike game (they mostly tend to exist in some kind of post-or-pre apocalypse), the downright gorgeous streets of Lies of P were so enchanting I kinda wished I could've seen them before everything went to hell.

Well, now I can: "Venture into a past Krat," the Steam page continues, "When its Belle Époque elegance faces impending ruin. Explore majestic, never-before-seen locations, from extravagant landmarks on its outskirts to opulent mansions and eerie, haunted ruins."

As shown off in the trailer, Pinocchio will gain access to variety of new weapons, including what looks like a sawed-off gauntlet, a straight-up bow and arrow, some messed up wolverine claws, a straight-up Final Fantasy gunblade, and more.

There'll naturally be a variety of beasties to fight, too. Lies of P had a bunch of stellar bosses, so I'm keen to see Neowiz continue on its proud tradition of kicking my sorry butt seven days from Wednesday.

As mentioned, Lies of P: Overture is available—well, right now. So if you enjoyed the base game, you can settle back into the shoes of Pinocchio and take to the pre-apocalypse street of Krat immediately. You've got no release dates to hold you down.
