The first Elder Scrolls Online season is upon us, but I'm already more excited for the second

After 12 years, The Elder Scrolls Online is changing. The introduction of a new seasonal model is set to overhaul the very structure of the MMORPG, starting with Season Zero on Thursday April 2. To guide us into this brave new world is the 2026 ESO Seasons Direct, where executive producer Susan Kath and game director Nick Giacomini walk us through what Zenimax Online Studios has been cooking up for this first step into a new world. As good as the initial few months are looking, it's Season One that's actually got me lacing up my adventuring boots, with the promise of some proper old-school questing.

The $1,000 PlayStation 6: Why Michael Pachter Predicts a ‘Smaller’ Gaming Future Saved by Game Streaming

A PlayStation 6 console with a sleek design and blue LED accents is displayed next to the 'PS6 PlayStation.6' logo.

The PlayStation 6 has yet to be officially announced, but the current price hikes for components like RAM and SSDs are making it challenging to predict how much the system will cost when it launches in 2027 or 2028. A "reasonable" price shouldn't be expected, according to known Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter, as the days of $500 consoles are likely over. However, an inevitably smaller gaming future could be saved by game streaming. "The console manufacturers can afford to bid up the price of RAM... but the console price will stay the same [or go up] and everybody’s happy," Pachter […]

Pragmata Has Gone Gold Ahead of April 17th Launch

After years of trying to nail the gameplay loop, the team behind Capcom’s Pragmata has announced that it’s officially gone gold. It thanked “all the fans who supported us so far,” and posted an image with the developers alongside animated versions of protagonists Hugh and Diana. There are also some hostile robots, ominously hanging about, some more literally than others. It’s probably fine.

Unfolding throughout a lunar research station full of robots that have turned bloodthirsty after a mysterious quake, players primarily control Hugh. While armed with shotguns, pistols and even tools to incapacitate certain threats, he’s unable to damage them. This is where the human-like android Diana helps out by hacking enemies to expose their weak points.

The result is a third-person shooter where you’re dodging attacks and firing with Hugh while simultaneously completing maze-like puzzles as Diana. Different hacking modules provide unique benefits, including increased damage, and you can visit the Shelter for further upgrades.

Pragmata is available on April 17th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. There’s a free standalone demo, which has already been downloaded two million times, to try out.

Though initially slated for April 24th, Capcom preponed the release date, likely because development has been progressing so well. Check out our feature for everything you should know and why we think it may end up as one of the more unique games of 2026.

South of Midnight is Now Available for PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2

Compulsion Games’ South of Midnight, a Gothic action-adventure set in the Deep South, is now available on PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2. It launched about a year ago for Xbox Series X/S and PC, earning decent critical acclaim and crossing one million players within its first month (likely with the help of Game Pass).

If you played the developer’s other games, including We Happy Few and Contrast, then South of Midnight is a more traditional action-adventure game. You control Hazel, who’s searching for her mother, Lacey, after a sudden flash flood tears through their house and home town. Unbeknownst to her, she possesses the abilities of a Weaver who must harness the Strands and repair the Grand Tapestry.

This journey spans the American Deep South, offering stunning stop-motion cinematics as Hazel meets folklore creatures like Huggin’ Molly, Two-Toed Tom, and many more (with several serving as bosses). Combat is fairly straightforward, with players possessing dual hooks to execute melee attacks and spells for various effects. But as action-packed as it can be, South of Midnight is as much about healing and helping people move on.

Check out our review for more details. We gave it an eight out of ten, praising the setting, storytelling, characters, music and art direction.
