Star Wars: Squadrons is 95% off and also, the perfect May 4th night in - shame the multiplayer's dead

Happy May 3rd, Battlestar Galactica fans! Remember what John Dune said about living long and prospering? He said: Oh, look, objectively excellent dogfighter Star Wars: Squadrons is under two quid on Steam. As Edwin pointed out to me, that’s about the price of a third of latte, although he does pay London prices. Also, Edwin, are you going around trying to buy the dregs of people’s lattes? I cannot judge. Were it in short supply, I too would debase myself for caffeine in an instant.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes first reactions are calling the movie "A New Hope for the Apes franchise"

The first reactions to Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes are here – and audiences are praising the movie's VFX and Wes Ball's direction.

"With #KingdomOfThePlanetOfTheApes being another great chapter, the series continues to hold strong," wrote GamesRadar+'s Emily Murray. "There are undoubtedly pacing issues (too long), but I loved being lost in that world and the exploration of Caesar’s legacy is fascinating. The ending will leave you wanting more."

"Apes have never been STRONGER in @wesball's MAGNIFICENT #KingdomOfThePlanetOfTheApes!" tweeted FilmSpeak's Griffin Schiller. "The complexities of Caesar's legacy loom large, but twisted in this coming of age odyssey of truth & lies, knowledge & power. A breathtaking visual feast! 'A New Hope' for the Apes franchise."

"#KingdomOfThePlanetOfTheApes is a fantastic addition to the series," said The Direct's Ross Milheim. "While it may falter at times in the pacing department, that never keeps the movie from being an absolute thrill. The VFX is astounding and the characters beautifully crafted. Can’t wait to see what comes next!"

"Between Rise, Dawn, War, and now #KingdomOfThePlanetOfTheApes, this series continues to be one of the very best franchise reboots out there," Collider's Perri Nemiroff tweeted. "As expected, there was no better director to take over than Wes Ball. Of course the wizards at Wētā had a big hand in this, but there’s also no doubt that Ball’s personal proficiency with visual effects contributed big time to how incredible this film looks."

The first movie in the franchise since 2017's War for the Planet of the Apes is set over 300 years later. Caesar (Andy Serkis) is now dead and, instead, we pick up over 300 years later with young chimpanzee Noa (Owen Teague) in a very different world. The ape civilization founded by Caesar has splintered into different clans, whilst humans have regressed to a feral state and a life in the shadows.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes arrives on the big screen on May 9 in the UK and May 10 in the US. In the meantime, check out our guide to the rest of this year's biggest upcoming movies.

How to get Fortnite’s Chewbacca skin: Star Wars Rebel Adventure event

Chewbacca's Fortnite skin against a grey and yellow background.

Star Wars Day is upon us, which means an epic crossover event is happening in Fortnite. While Han Solo has been in the game for years, his trusty companion Chewie has been noticeable by his absence. Finally, though, the legendary Wookie is here, and we know how to unlock Chewbacca in Fortnite.

With Star Wars taking over the game to celebrate May 4, both the Rebels and Empire are coming to not only Battle Royale, but LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and even Fortnite Festival. While all these additions are definitely welcome, for many, it's the cosmetics that they're looking forward to the most.

That's why plenty of Star Wars fans are so happy to see Chewbacca finally appear in the game. Arriving with his Wookie Bowcaster, players will be able to buy Chewie, but may be confused if they head to the Item Shop and discover he's not there.

How to unlock Chewbacca in Fortnite

To unlock Chewbacca in Fortnite, you'll need to purchase the Star Wars Rebel Adventure pass. This can be found at the top of your screen between the 'Play' and 'Locker' tabs. The Premium Track pass costs 1,400 V-Bucks, and instantly unlocks the Chewie skin.

Players will get two versions of Chewbacca: A regular version that can be used in Battle Royale and Fortnite Festival, and a LEGO Fortnite version exclusive to that mode.

The Rebel Adventure pass will also allow players to unlock Star Wars-themed LEGO Fortnite buildings by completing Quests, so you can turn your world into Tatooine.

Helldivers 2 Players Express Frustration On Steam As It Will Soon Require A PSN Account

helldivers 2 update balance patch notes release date

Developer Arrowhead Game Studios and Sony Interactive Entertainment have announced that Helldivers 2 on Steam will soon require a PlayStation Network account to play. All new players from May 30 will have to link their Steam account to a PSN account, and all current players will have to do so by June 4.

Up until this point, a PSN account was not required to play Helldivers 2 on PC via Steam, and with the sudden switch-up, players have taken to the game's Steam reviews to express their frustration. Admittedly, the game's rating is still "Very Positive," with roughly 80% of user reviews falling into this category, but that 80% is lower than it has been in the weeks prior. And now, if you look at the game's recent reviews, you'll find plenty of negative ratings over the required PSN account change.

SIE says due to "technical issues at the launch of Helldivers 2, we allowed the linking requirements for Steam accounts to a PlayStation Network account to be temporarily optional. That grace period will now expire." That expiration begins on May 6 for new players and June 4 for current players.

While frustration is understood, it's important to note a PlayStation console is not required to create a PSN account – creating one is free and can be done online, no PlayStation 5 required. SIE encourages players to do so ahead of the June 4 change.

"We understand that while this may be an inconvenience to some of you, this step will help us continue to build a community that you are all proud to be a part of," the announcement reads.

For more, read about the Democratic Detonation premium Warbond that drops into Helldivers 2 this week, and then read about how the latest Helldivers 2 update increased the level cap, added blizzards and sandstorms, and more. Check out Game Informer's Helldivers 2 review to find out why we think it's a must-play game.
