James Gunn shares first look at David Corenswet as Superman and teases a surprise villain

James Gunn has shared the first-ever look at David Corenswet as Superman – and it's pretty epic.

Gunn shared the image to Threads with the caption, "Get ready. Superman. 7.11.25."  The photo, which Gunn says was taken on set by Jess Miglio and was entirely on-camera, sees a rather dirty and beaten-up Clark Kent putting on his signature red boots. In the background, a rather terrifying eyeball-looking creature appears to be causing destruction.

The scary glowy eyeball in question might very well be Solaris the Tyrant Sun, a villain that made its first appearance in DC One Million #1 back in 1998. It's also featured in the 2005 comic series All-Star Superman and its 2011 animated adaptation, which was released direct-to-video by Warner Bros. Animation.

Superman: Legacy is the the first movie in James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DCU – titled Chapter One: Gods and Monsters – and follows a younger Superman as he embarks on a journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent.

It was announced back in July that Corenswet, who you might recognize from Ti West's Pearl,  had won the role. He reportedly beat out Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney.

The full cast includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Maria Gabriela de Faria as The Engineer, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Terence Rosemare as Otis, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

Superman is set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. For more, check out our list of all the upcoming DC movies and shows you need to know about.

New Borderlands Movie Poster Teases The Chaos To Come

Ahead of the film's debut this August, a new poster for the Borderlands movie has arrived. As part of the CCXP event in Mexico City recently, director Eli Roth showed new footage of the film and debuted a poster that features the main cast assembling.

The footage was only shown to fans in attendance, but the poster is for everyone to enjoy. The slick and stylish poster shows the main characters, including Kevin Hart as Roland, Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis, Cate Blanchett as Lilith, and Claptrap (voiced by Jack Black). The poster also includes the movie's tagline, which is "Chaos Loves Company."

Roth directed Borderlands, with Deadpool's Tim Miller stepping in for some reshoots. It's been a long road to release for the movie, as principal photography was completed in June 2021, but the movie is finally done and ready to debut theatrically on August 9.

Looks like Space Marine 2 will continue the first game's grand tradition of PvP multiplayer

A video uploaded to YouTube by prdalien0 showing a flick-through of The Art and Making of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 seems to have confirmed Saber Interactive's sequel will have a PvP mode. A two-page spread shows the armor of Chaos Space Marines who will apparently be playable in the mode, from the chapters of the Death Guard, Black Legion, Iron Warriors, Night Lords, Alpha Legion, and World Eaters.

We've already seen a little of Space Marine 2's co-op campaign (which can also be played solo, with the two other marines controled by AI), but this leak is the first we've seen of a PvP mode. Notably, Relic's original Space Marine had a cracking online multiplayer scene, with a team-based mode where two squads of eight marines faced off against each other. There really was nothing like jetpacking out of the sky onto an opponent, chainsword revving in your hand.

That PvP mode included a progression system that let you unlock different classes—Tactical, Devastator, and Assault marines—as well as various weapon and armor customizations. A bunch of DLC with extra maps, armor sets and the like followed, though if you own Space Marine on Steam these days you'll have the anniversary edition, which includes all those extras as standard.

As announced at The Game Awards, Space Marine 2 is due out in September of this year after having been delayed out of 2023.
