This Resident Evil Requiem Live-Action Trailer Might Be Better Than Any Resident Evil Movie

The Resident Evil franchise has a mixed track record in the cinematic landscape, and a new live-action short film promoting Resident Evil Requiem may put all previous efforts to shame.

Titled "Evil Has Always Had A Name," the roughly three-and-a-half-minute-long film features Maika Monroe, who starred in horror films It Follows and Longlegs. Monroe portrays the mother of a young girl, and the two appear to be living a happy life--unfortunately, they were living in Raccoon City amidst the T-virus outbreak depicted in Resident Evil 2 and 3.

Brandon Sanderson's movie adaptations may be starting in the wrong place

The wild success of Game of Thronesgave Hollywood an endless appetite for epic fantasy. But most attempts to replicate HBO’s success at adapting George R.R. Martin’s books have failed. Shadow & Bone, Netflix’s adaptation of Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse, was canceled after two seasons. Prime Video’s The Wheel of Timewas scrapped after three, well before it reached the material Sanderson wrote to finish Robert Jordan’s fantasy epic after the author’s death. Netflix’s The Witcherwill get its fifth and final season, but its viewership suffered a massive decline between season 3 and season 4, when Liam Hemsworth took over the role of Geralt of Rivia from Henry Cavill. Speaking to Polygon, Sanderson cited the issues with all three series when explaining his concerns over seeing his work adapted.

Ubisoft Montreal Lead Fired After Critical Comments on New Return-to-Office Mandate

A brick office building with the Ubisoft logo on the top corner, under a clear sky.

Ubisoft, like most major triple-A publishers and developers, gets its fair share of criticism, and since the company announced a "major reset" last month, it's been getting far more than its fair share. The reset saw it cancel the long-awaited Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake, among other projects, while others were delayed, and the company confirmed that there would not only be more layoffs coming, but it would end its remote work policies, instituting a return-to-office mandate. All of this, including the introduction of a voluntary layoff program at Ubisoft's headquarters in Paris, has sparked heavy criticism from […]

Marvel's ex-CEO Peter Cuneo on launching the MCU, selling to Disney, and recent box office flops

The nostalgia site I-Mockery worried Disney would “remove any and all adult appeal these comics and characters have by trying to ‘kiddiefy’ everything.” San Diego Entertainer Magazine declared the day the news hit as “a dark day in comic book history.” And commenters on Comicbookmovie.com reacted by saying things like, “They are going to sanitize your comic book favorites” and “I don't want to see a Donald Duck-Iron Man crossover!!!”
