Remedy’s Big Bet On Control Resonant Appears To Be Paying Off

Following the September release of Control Resonant, business is boomin' for developer Remedy Entertainment. The studio reported that its third-quarter revenue surged 226% to €39.6 million / $44.3 million after the game's release, following the financial review period on October 15, a feat CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon called "a defining milestone" for Remedy.

In terms of operating profit, Remedy said it made €0.6 million / $670,794, and while that may not sound like much, it's still better than the €16.4 million / $18.3 million loss the studio posted in the same quarter last year. Control Resonant has sold over 1 million units, making it Remedy's fastest-selling title to date, with most sales coming from the US. The game has also been popular in the US and the UK, and Remedy says that half of the players were new to the franchise.

"Reaching new players was a key goal for this game, and these early results indicate a growing audience for the franchise and for Remedy," Gaudechon said, adding that the developer is looking to get the game into the hands of more people. Control Resonant's predecessor, Control, also saw increased sales, and that financial runway will help Remedy as it continues working on other projects, like its Max Payne 1 & 2 remake. Gaudechon also noted that Control Resonant is currently on 2.4 million wishlists, which could provide a "substantial potential audience" for the future.

"Excellent player reviews, penetration in all our target markets and a substantial outstanding wishlist base give a solid foundation for the game’s longer-term sales potential, supported by both organic visibility as well as our targeted marketing activities," said Gaudechon. As for the other games in the Remedy catalog, Gaudechon said that most people are playing FBC: Firebreak through subscription services like Game Pass or PlayStation Plus, and in its second year, it is making less money. The Alan Wake franchise had a quieter quarter, but the Alan Wake 2 capitalized development costs were fully depreciated during Q3.

Mike Flanagan thinks 'Warhammer is a fascinating world' but can't tell us anything else about the upcoming Warhammer 40,000 project because 'Henry Cavill would be furious'

Game Workshop and Henry Cavill's Warhammer 40,000 project has been in the works for two years now, with the most recent news being that renowned horror director, writer, and showrunner Mike Flanagan—known for projects such as the Carrie miniseries or The Haunting of Hill House—has joined the crew and will be writing the script.

Otherwise mum's the word concerning this project, with very little being shared about it. In fact, the most we've got so far has been Flanagan recently chatting about a few bits and pieces during his Carrie press tour.

Flanagan describes the process of discovering all that Warhammer 40,000 has to offer as "a very cool and unexpected on-ramp into it, which I think is very exciting. I’m sworn to secrecy on all of it, but I'm having the time of my life working on it."

It's good to hear that, at the very least, he's having fun. There's certainly a lot of material to work with here and a lot to get stuck into for a horror director. I haven't been completely convinced by some of Flanagan's projects. Midnight Mass took too long to get going, The Fall of the House of Usher felt confused, and The Haunting of Bly Manor was too much of a Hill House clone. Though, I am still intrigued to see how this Warhammer 40,000 will turn out, especially with Cavill working on it.

I actually quite enjoyed Amazon's Secret Level Warhammer 40,000 short. You can hardly go wrong when focusing on the Deathwatch, but the gore and the violence still went down really well in my book. So I'd like more of that please.

Henry Cavill's Warhammer 40K TV show has a "very cool and unexpected" premise, according to Mike Flanagan

Mike Flanagan has shared some new details for the upcoming Warhammer 40K series being developed by Amazon Studios. The horror maestro is working on the show alongside Henry Cavill, who has been developing the IP for years.

Speaking in a new interview, Flanagan teased how much he's enjoying the project since being brought on earlier in 2026. "Henry Cavill would be furious if I divulged anything about what we're working on," he told Deadline. "All I can say is that Warhammer is a fascinating world. The challenge, as anyone familiar with it knows, is finding a way in – it's so big. There are 700 novels, discounting the [table top] game, the interactive elements and so much of the rest of the lore."

Flanagan went on to reveal that they have found "a very cool and unexpected on-ramp into it, which I think is very exciting." He added: "I'm sworn to secrecy on all of it, but I’m having the time of my life working on it."

The series has been a long time coming with Cavill's partnership with Games Workshop first being announced three years ago. At the time, the former Superman star shared a statement on Instagram, which read: "Together, we've been sifting through the plethora of incredible characters and poring over old tomes and texts. Our combined efforts have led us to a fantastic place to start our Universe, which has been agreed upon by those up on high at both Amazon and Games Workshop. That starting place shall, for now, remain a secret."

The latest update came in July when Flanagan was brought on board as Games Workshop CEO Kevin Rountree said work was beginning on scripts. However, he again promised that it would not be a quick process. "This is a long-term partnership with Amazon – and these adaptations will take years to bring successfully to market," Rountree wrote in the company's annual report.
