Mini MMO Farever sets first big early access update for July 15 – here’s the new trailer

Back in June, we covered the open beta for Farever’s next early access patch, which is a thing we’re doing now, and because the mini-MMO is actually fun, we’re going to give it just half a side-eye. The patch is called Nightling Invasion, and it basically adds 15-player world events, the Ramburg map, and a […]

Obsession star Inde Navarrette built her gaming PC just like you and me: By watching Henry Cavill do it first

Readers! Exciting news about the future direction of PC Gamer, heretofore your number one destination for news about things Henry Cavill is doing. We are now also your number one destination for news about things Obsession star Inde Navarrette is doing. Come with me as we march boldly into this new era.

It turns out, based on a recent chat Navarrette had with Etalk, that what she's doing is, well, what Henry Cavill is doing. The star—who is a known, documented, and unrepentant gamer—chatted about her process for building a gaming PC. Like the rest of the freedom-loving world, one of her first steps was to watch Henry Cavill do it on YouTube.

"I saved up a lot of money to do that. Building a PC is not cheap, at all," said Navarrette (and boy, don't we know it). "I watched a lot of YouTube, and I watched Henry Cavill build his own so, like, [I was] bouncing around between all of those videos." The stars, folks—they're just like us: attentively watching Cavill don a headlamp and vest to assemble a personal computer.

I do wonder when Navarrette put together her build—pre- or post-RAM crisis—because the immense price of the thing is a subject she recalls with a wince. "I think saving your money [is important], but if you can't there's a lot of really good options out there. Just do your research… on what you want to use it for and what are the best components for that."

There are some ways you can save money, I suppose. For instance, back when Navarrette was streaming The Last of Us, she had a big ol' "Activate Windows" watermark occupying space in the bottom right of her screen the whole time. I should probably write to her about OpenSUSE Tumbleweed. I bet she'd appreciate that.

Left 4 Dead lives on in The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, a Lovecraftian extraction game from the creators of Zeno Clash

Seeking relief from the terrible light of the Xbox resettification, I fall into the sweet, dank embrace of The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, a 17th century extraction game in which four crucifix-wielding, musket-toting Spanish explorers venture to a jungle full of creatures inspired by Lovecraftian horror. Why would they set foot in such an awful place? For loot, of course. Why else do Europeans travel to other countries?
