Well, we knew it was coming in “late Q3,” but now we have a cold hard date: Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 is officially launching on August 25th – a lil earlier than we expected. Daybreak – which last we heard was in the process of acquiring AFE2 developer Cold Iron Studios – says that the […]

10 new movies to watch this weekend on Prime Video, HBO Max and Hulu (July 24-26)

Christopher Nolan may be dominating the big screen this month — at least until Spider-Man shows up on July 31 — but there's still plenty of new releases to watch at home. As we head into the weekend, plenty of genre movies and blockbusters are free to stream or rent and purchase digitally, including the latest Star Wars movie and Steven Spielberg’s most recent take on aliens.

Nintendo officially gives a huge Switch 2 makeover to its most underrated RPG

There's been a trend lately of semi-recent titles receiving a Nintendo Switch 2 version and still requiring players to buy it at full price — even if it's already owned. Luckily, this is not the case with Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which is getting its upgraded version on July 30. Its upgrade pack features more than just the visual update, though, promising new storylines and better graphics. While all of these seem great, the Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade will also come with new skins for Pyra and Mythra, and they are the true cherry on the top of this colorful JRPG sundae.

Dungeons & Dragons and World of Warcraft crossover leaks ahead of Gen Con

A deleted Roll20 blog post seemingly revealed an official crossover between Dungeons & Dragons and World of Warcraft ahead of a planned announcement, presumably at Gen Con 2026 next week. EN World first reported that Roll20 briefly published a post declaring that preorders for “D&D World of Warcraft” were live, accompanied by promotional artwork featuring the two franchises’ logos. Although Roll20 quickly removed the post, its preview and imagery remained accessible for a short time afterward.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is open to all this weekend for a free playtest

If you're looking for something to do this weekend and would prefer it comes in the form of shooting guys, then allow me to direct your attention to Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, which is holding an open beta that's set to run until Monday.

Announced in 2025, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is a more-modern follow-up to the WW2 milsim Hell Let Loose. It features the 50v50 battles of the original, expanded with the addition of air power—helicopters, naturally—across six large-scale maps. Battlefield Vietnam may be the obvious point of comparison, but as PC Gamer gunner Morgan Park pointed out, Hell Let Loose is more of a hardcore milsim. The Steam page reflects that as well, emphasizing the need for teamwork and tactics, and the game's focus on historical accuracy.

To get in on that action, just pop around to the Hell Let Loose: Vietnam on Steam and punch the "join the playtest" button. The playtest is fully cross-platform, so you can jump in on consoles if you like—instructions for that are also available on Steam, but the short version is to look for the playtest on either the Xbox or PlayStation Store, and then install it. Console-exclusive servers are also being offered, for those who don't want to get hammered by the mouse-and-keyboard set, but you'll need to have either a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass Essential subscription to play.

There are a number of known issues with the current build of the game, including dodgy voice chat, occasional performance drops, and "infrequent crashes or stability issues" on some AMD GPUs. Players are encouraged to provide feedback via the playtest survey, and reminded that any progression, XP, and unlocks earned during the test will not carry over to the full release. That's set to happen on August 13.
