Space: the final frontier. I often dream what it would be like to leave this rock behind and go out into that infinite expanse. I'd probably die a horrific death because just about anything can and will go wrong in outer space, and I have basically no technical skills that would help me survive in a spaceship.

Fortunately, I can live out my fantasy from the safety of my living room thanks to videogames.

Star Trek: Outposts Unknown was just revealed in a PC Gaming Show world premiere, and it ticks a lot of boxes. Fans of the stories told during the escapades of the USS Enterprise will be delighted to learn this is a narrative-driven affair, not just a sandbox.

We get a hint at the drama on offer in the trailer, which shows a peaceful and prospering outpost suddenly beset by a strange anomaly called "the Rift." Like I said, anything can and will go wrong. We don't know exactly what the anomaly is, but it's described as "a mysterious cosmic force that threatens a new ally." So, expect alien buddies as well as unknowable forces of despair. Neat!

In Star Trek: Outposts Unknown, developed by Magic Fuel Games and published by Playstack, you face off against this terrifying threat as nought but a small captain. You're probably a regular-size captain, but compared to that glowing thing in the sky, anything appears miniscule.

The trailer shows some of the colonists fighting against what honestly looks like a localised thunderstorm shrouded in a mist the same shade of purple as the anomaly itself, so it seems to be causing smaller instances of danger and nuisance that you'll have to deal with.

We also get some shots of the colony building mechanic, where all the buildings are assembled by robotic arms. This is the future, no manual labour required.

Stronghold 4 was revealed to the world at the PC Gaming Show today, which despite the title is actually the 10th game in the long-running series of games where you design medieval castles, build them up, and then smash 'em down—the castles that belong to your sworn enemies, anyway.

The first thing you'll notice, because it's the first thing in the trailer, is the presence of Samantha Béart and Ben Starr, known for star-making roles in Baldur's Gate 3 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, among numerous others. (Yes, I know, Ben Starr is also big in FF16, don't @ me.) They're unexpectedly enthusiastic about the new Stronghold—perhaps because they're not just here to reveal the new game, they're actually in it too.

Stronghold 4 looks very much like a Stronghold game, but developer Firefly Studios says it's the "most ambitious" entry in the series yet, developed in Unreal Engine 5. Castle design and construction is closely interconnected with economic systems and supply chains to deliver a deep "castle simulator," bolstered by weather effects, day-night cycles, and changing terrain.

As with its predecessor, Stronghold 4 will feature a full narrative campaign laced with the series' well-known humor to go along with the deep sim stuff, with returning fan-favorite characters and all-new cinematics. For players who prefer to stick to the building and smashing part of things, the game will support multiplayer action for up to eight players and co-op skirmish missions.

The Stronghold series could use a strong new entry: It's 25 years old now (the first game released in 2001) and it hasn't been what you'd call a consistent winner across that quarter century. In his 2021 review of Stronghold: Warlords, for instance, reviewer Robert Zak asked, "Can the latest entry in the struggling series rebuild its strong foundations?" And the answer was, simply, no: The game was fine and castle sieges remained excellent, but too much of the rest of it felt "too thin" to properly support the experience

The 2023 Definitive Edition remake of the original Stronghold, by comparison, has been very well received, holding a "very positive" rating across nearly 9,500 user reviews on Steam, and if Firefly is able to build on that success with this new mainline entry, it could be a surprise hit. Stronghold 4 is expected to launch later in 2026, and a demo is coming to Steam on June 23.

Mojang has announced that Minecraft Dungeons 2 will be joining the ever-growing pile of late September releases.

Being announced earlier this year at Minecraft Live 2026, Minecraft Dungeons 2 follows-up the 2020 dungeon crawler with a new game for PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. And now we've got our first proper look at the game with a sleek new trailer that feels like the closest thing to a Minecraft anime that we'll ever get as we see our cuboid warriors take on the usual roster of enemies.

We also got an actual look at gameplay, with the game looking a lot better than its predecessor, both visually, and in terms of the action on screen. The trailer also ended with a teaser of something to come, with a portal opening in front of a zombie. Howeveer, we didn't get a look at anything coming out of it, but I choose to believe it's going to be Jack Black.

However, good luck getting time to play it, as it's releasing on September 29, 2026. So unless you're not interested in Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Ace Combat 8, Silent Hill: Townfall, Control Resonant and the 500 other games coming out in September and October, you may be busy when it releases.

Unfortunately for Microsoft and Mojang, this release date wasn't exactly a surprise, as the Nintendo eShop accidentally spilled the beans earlier this week. The Switch 2 version of the game appeared on the store, with the September 29 release date, and a $29.99 pricepoint being included in the leak.

Spyro: A Realm Beyond is the series' first all-new game in 18 years, and it's launching next year

Persona 6 is real, folks. Atlus announced it during today's Xbox Games Showcase live stream, and it was by far the thinnest announcement of the entire show.

The trailer is a dreary shot of a graveyard punctuated with a neon green "P6" logo, and that's about it. At least we have platforms to go on: Xbox Series X, PS5, and PC (Steam).

That's genuinely it for now. We have no release date, no characters (though some purported leaks would disagree), not even themes. But as of today, Persona 6 is a real, official, in-development JRPG to look forward to.
