

Video game openings are tough. Not only do they have to establish a setting and story stakes, they also have to teach you how to play the damn thing. The new James Bond, 007 First Light, excels in throwing you into a kick-ass stealth section in Iceland before pivoting to a lightning-fast tutorial montage in Malta. It’s an excellent way to open a game.
Superman is the biggest character in comics, the default superhero for many in a world that has thousands upon thousands. The character has appeared in nearly a dozen live-action films, countless more animated projects, and virtually infinite comic books as he works to spread his message of good.

At Gamescom, Polygon had the opportunity to play a 30-minute Fabledemo behind closed doors. It was focused solely on combat: An early game quest took me, alongside a dry-witted character named Humphry, through an abandoned mine full of undead skeletons and wraiths, followed by a misty bog that culminated in a boss fight.
